Sweden’s PAIN OF SALVATION are likely the very opposite of a predictable and standardized act and they once more prove their unmatched reputation as true artists, modern rock expressionists as well as progressive metal pioneers by re-visiting their 2002 album masterpiece “Remedy Lane”. Following up their latest studio releases “Road Salt One” (2010) and “Road Salt Two” (2011) as well as the acoustic album “Falling Home” (2014), PAIN OF SALVATION are looking back to their much acclaimed “Remedy Lane” epos and offering a new shape for the ground-breaking and genre-bending material it contains. Always eager to improve the album’s character, PAIN OF SALVATION’s Daniel Gildenlöw recently teamed up with old companion and mixing engineer wizard Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Symphony X, Devin Townsend, Haken, etc.) for a new sonic take on the original recordings as well as its intense full-album live performance from ProgPower USA Festival 2014. Daniel Gildenlöw further comments: “Jens Bogren, aka Fascination Street Studios, approached us a few years after the release of “Remedy Lane“, saying he was a fan of the band and kindly offered his services. He was later involved in “BE” and “Scarsick“, but always in the periphery, since we were taking new directions in our sound and production by then. His true strength lay in that impressive wall-of-sound type production that we had been aiming for with“ The Perfect Element“ and “Remedy Lane“, and I always wondered how those albums would have sounded in the care of his skillful hands. Maybe it was time to find out?”
Contains the classic SEPULTURA albums “Bestial devastation”, “Morbid visions”, “Schizophrenia”, “Beneath The Remains”, “Arise”, “Chaos AD” and “Roots” on six coloured LPs!
Limited edition Digipak including bonus track and patch.
“Téras” doubtlessly marks another milestone in the band’s career, delivering the most sophisticated, most elaborate and most vicious Black Metal ever to be disgorged from the pits of hell. The album combines NAGLFAR’s sheer savageness and rabid malevolence with majestic riffs, multifaceted song structures and epic melodies.
Directly inspired by the aesthetics and approach of the print fanzines of the pre-internet era, the Cult Never Dies: The Mega Zine series expands the focus from Cult Never Dies’ previous black metal books to more fully document the metal underground. The fourth full-length work by Dayal Patterson (Black Metal: Evolution Of The Cult, Cult Never Dies Vol. One and Into The Abyss), featuring guest writing from the talented Frank Allain, this tome comprises of huge, candid and definitive interviews with: MYSTICUM, BAL-SAGOTH, IN THE WOODS…, REVEREND BIZARRE, INDESINENCE, NAHTRUNAR, SLEGEST, SCYTHIAN, LYCHGATE, MORK, ANCIENT, JON KRISTIANSEN and the story of HEAD NOT FOUND records, black metal photographer ESTER SEGARRA and illustrator GARETH ELLIOTT.
All orders will include a full-length Odium Records 20th anniversary CD compilation, featuring tracks from respected bands such as Mephorash, Varathron, Black Altar and Beastcraft, and including several previously unheard tracks.
The first edition of this 264-color pages volume was first published in 2015, thanks to a successful crowd-funding campaign. Since then, it has been re-printed twice—eventually selling-out. The constant popular demand and the existence of new material motivated author, Ramon Oscuro Martos, to create a new limited edition of the book featuring additional interviews, commentaries and new graphics.
“I didn’t want to just re-print the same book again,” Martos—who writes for publications like MetalUnderground.com, Heavy Music Artwork magazine—comments. “I had some new material available. So I decided to introduce some changes that definitely bring something new to the table while keeping intact the essence of previous editions.”
The new additions include exclusive comments by renowned Metal musicians like Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Neige (Alcest), Kelly Schaefer (Atheist) Dani Filth (Cradle Of Filth) as well as some never-seen-before graphics. “None of this was available at the time I published the first two editions,” the author reveals. “So, this revised edition of …And Justice For Art is a great opportunity to include this material that somehow, improves the book’s content. In essence, it’s still the same book… just improved.”
“…And Justice For Art” comes with a foreword by Morbid Angel’s former frontman, David Vincent, and has been featured and/or reviewed on many specialized publications around the world including USA’s Decibel Magazine (“…a lush, edifying, fascinating, surprising tour de force history of metal album covers”) UK’s Zero Tolerance Magazine (“Meticulously researched, beautifully designed and with a wealth of fascinating and insightful interviews”) and Belgium’s Rock Tribune Magazine (“It’s very impressive, do not hesitate too long if you want to have this book”).
In addition, member of several Metal bands have also expressed their support for the book. This include Obituary’s Donald Tardy (“The world needs books like this”), Cattle Decapitation’s Travis Ryan (“This is exactly what the music world needs to remind us all just how important album covers have been to all of us that grew up surrounding ourselves with physical media”), and ex-Morbid Angel, David Vincent (“This is a historical document about the importance of Metal album covers”), among many others.
The Sinister Flame Issue V – Aristocracy of Wolves Summer 2016 e.v.
To the beautiful sound of cracking skulls, The Sinister Flame proudly presents its fifth issue, further exploring the abyss with ABIGOR, MARE, MORDOR, NÅSTROND, HIEROPHANT’S DESCENT, Temple of Them, XANTOTOL and Jarl Flagg Nidhögg of Darker Than Black (ex-Absurd).
Aside from interviews, the issue also includes review sections and a special article by Northern Heritage that focuses on the connection of nature and Black Metal. With its 56/A4, designed by Briandvp and professionally printed in full colour, TSF serves you once more a unique insight into the black, esoteric undercurrent that flows at the core of genuine Black Metal while pouring scorn on the politically correct, entertainment-seeking, fools who try to tame its sinister spirit.
BRAND NEW HORROR GRAPHIC NOVEL featuring Black metal heroes BEHEMOTH, EMPEROR, MAYHEM, Punk Legends THE DAMNED and up and coming Drum & Bass/Metal superstar ZARDONIC!!
There’s no one left to protect us from what lurks in the dark. There’s no Hellboy, no Mulder and Scully, no Torchwood or Men in Black coming to save us. The monsters have won.
Our world now belongs to them.
The Vatican’s last line of paranormal defence – The Congregation – has finally been overrun by the supernatural forces of darkness. Our heroes are all dead; only the damned remain. Among them is Alberic Van Helsing – addict, murderer, survivor – and the creatures that were once his prey now hunt him across America. But when an apocalyptic evil is resurrected in the forests of Norway, it falls to Van Helsing to become the hunter once again if mankind and monster alike are to see the dawn.
Van Helsing’s quest for salvation and survival takes him through the ruins of a neo-gothic Europe, where he must face the vampire queen of the Vatican, a man-made monster with the heart of a storm, the lycanthropic lord of the forest, the mummified ruler of the slums of Cairo, and the crazed vampire demi-god who threatens to devour them all.
The second opus from this brilliant band. This album showed Ulver were going to be an experimental, unpredictable band early on, having no trace of the black metal that was the foundation for their debut. Instead, the mood is melancholy and introverted, played entirely on acoustic instruments. Captivating, hypnotic, absolutely beautiful stuff for cold winter nights…

New York City experimental black metal tacticians IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT present their new album titled Abyssal Gods, mixed and mastered by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice, Nader Sadek, Atheist, Origin etc.) at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves in New York and boasts the apocalyptic cover craftings of Andrew Tremblay (Deadbots, Downlow’d, Deathface etc.).
The CD features the band’s amazing 1986 demo, carefully mastered from the original analog source as well as two complete, unreleased live soundboard recordings from the band’s extensive touring days! Featuring cover artwork from Rick Araluce, who painted both covers for the band’s 2 full length albums “Terror and Submission” and “Mind Wars” as well as their “El Revengo” compilation.
Sweden’s FIRESPAWN are back with a f**kin‘ vengeance! Already the 2015 debut album “Shadow Realms” was a scorching piece of diabolic death metal created by members of Entombed A.D., Necrophobic, Unleashed, Raised Fist and Naglfar, the new opus “The Reprobate” (2017) turns out to be even more infernal. Being written in a shorter term compared to the debut, „The Reprobate“ offers a devastating intensity that is highly recommended to fans of US death greats like Morbid Angel, Deicide or Vital Remains as well as Polish acts like Behemoth or Vader. Garnered with truly epic guitar melodies, scathing blasts, uncompromising riffs and probably the most brutal vocal performance LG Petrov has ever delivered, tracks like “Serpent Of The Ocean“. “Blood Eagle“, “Death By Impalement“ or the title track slay for days, weeks, months. Topped off with artwork by Paolo Girardi (Inquisition, Power Trip), “The Reprobate” is a must-have!
Deluxe Digibox edition with ‘Berdreyminn’ + bonus tracks “Svart Blóð” and “Samband i Berlin” in CD Digipak with extended 24 page booklet + earplugs with Sólstafir storing pouch + pin + patch. SÓLSTAFIR are not like any other band. Their sixth album ‘Berdreyminn’ underscores this statement. As its title “a dreamer of forthcoming events” aptly describes, the four Icelanders have taken their already impressive evolution one step further. The band has continued to amalgamate haunting melodies, psychedelic phases, as well as strong undercurrents of classic rock and hard rock with echoes of their metal past. Yet SÓLSTAFIR’s focus is not on style but pure emotion. ‘Berdreyminn’ is eclectic by a conscious choice to make feelings audible and transform taste as well as texture to sound. Genre borders are not broken but simply ignored. Musical influences are gathered from a wide range of sources, re-arranged, and woven into new patterns. Melancholy, longing, anger, joy, pleasure, pain, and other emotions are fuelling & fulling this album.

NIGHTBRINGER are pushing forward in their fast-track evolution with grim determination. Their forthcoming fifth full-length ‘Terra Damnata’ takes at least as big a step into new musical dimensions as its predecessor ‘Ego Dominus Tuus’ (2014) – yet without straying from the band’s original black course. While ‘Ego Dominus Tuus’ amalgamated traces of quintessential elements taken as inspiration from EMPEROR, DARK FUNERAL, and DIMMU BORGIR among other black classics into a dark American alloy, ‘Terra Damnata’ seems to systematically sever such ties to the previous orthodoxy found on ‘Hierophany of the Open Grave’ (2011). NIGHTBRINGER have sharpened their claws and unafraid of dissonance dare to take their songwriting where it hurts.
Madness reigns! BENIGHTED deliver the radical soundtrack to these savage times. With their new full-length ‘Necrobreed’, the French sidestep the steadily growing complexity of their previous albums by recalibrating their sound along their roots. ‘Necrobreed’ is the result of modern violence combined with an undercurrent of old school feeling. BENIGHTED keep their grinding influences but classic death metal clearly shows through the fabric. Those insane pig squeals are backed-up by massive growling and guest performances by vocalists Trevor Strnad (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) and Arno (BLACK BOMB A). Crushing riffing and nuclear drumming meet subtle melodies and hidden hooks are fuelling the fury.
The 4 tracks of the legendary Jazz Progressive Metal formation Watchtower that were only available over digital version, are now available as the “Concepts of math: Book one” release. Additionally the group provides us with the great almost 10 minute new song “Mathematica calculis”. Friends of the previous albums as well as fans of technical cabinet pieces should take their chance.
Doom godfathers THE OBSESSED return with Sacred, their first studio album in over 20 years. Led by legendary frontman Scott “Wino” Weinrich (Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan, The Hidden Hand, etc.), THE OBSESSED originally formed in 1976 and released three seminal stoner / doom albums in the early 90’s, including The Church Within which has been hailed as one of the important records in the genre’s history. Now, after reforming in 2016, the band has returned with renewed energy and purpose, sounding heavier and more relevant than ever before. On Sacred, THE OBSESSED double down on enormous, heaving riffs and pummeling low-end across 12 tracks of eternal doom. Rounded out by Wino’s lyrical honesty and iconic throaty vocals, Sacred is an album that further pushes THE OBSESSED into the annals of heavy metal history and that was well worth the two-plus decade wait.
Celebrate the return of the VAMPIRE! The impatiently awaited 2017 studio album by Gothenburg’s most horrid death/thrash export unleashes a macabre yet atmospheric sonic whirlwind living up to its title “With Primeval Force”. Sporting influences from Dissection, Bathory, Mercyful Fate, Slayer, Sarcófago, traces of Autopsy, Master’s Hammer, and Possessed, VAMPIRE manage to create a unique musical formula that touches upon the aesthetics of Hammer Horror and the hideous yet seductive imagery crafted by H.P. Lovecraft, Bram Stoker, and M.R. James in terms of lyrics and visuals. “It has a more mature feel to it,” guitarist Black String states when comparing it with the much-lauded 2014 self-titled debut. “As the cover art by Nick Keller suggests, the musical and lyrical horizons have broadened; every song feels as if it lives its own life, still well-placed in the general picture. I wanted the band to go for a more introverted and cold sound, as a distinction to some of the chorus-laden ‘fist in the air’ songs on our debut. So, you could say that “With Primeval Force” generally is both colder and more atmospheric than our debut; a bit less ’traditional’ songwriting in our terms. Despite that, the album somehow embraces bits and pieces of the last 35 years or so of metal music. In that sense, it holds on to a lot of tradition and the VAMPIRE mark is still very present.” Featuring individual illustrations per song courtesy of Tribulation’s Jonathan Hultén, “With Primeval Force” offers devastating, Teutonic thrash flavoured tracks like “Ghoul Wind” but also epic, gloomy pieces like the majestic “Revenants”. Also, the formats do not disappoint as the album is available as CD digipak that folds out in a cross shape as well as stunning vinyl edition including a 12-page LP booklet.
ART OF ANARCHY is one of the rare rock bands where each member has a strong identity, and together creates something special. No filler, just raw talent, and dedication to the music and being true to who they are. The members have collectively sold tens of millions of albums worldwide and have a rock pedigree that most artists would be content to rest their laurels on. But while AOA possess the star power of a rock “super group” in spades, the band’s focus is squarely on songwriting and musical craft. Lead guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal hails formerly from Guns N’ Roses, while bassist John Moyer first rose to fame as a member of Disturbed. Twin brothers Jon Votta (guitar) and Vince Votta (drums), meanwhile, first gained renown as fixtures on the New York music scene. The most recent addition to the group is Grammy Award winner Scott Stapp, the founder and lead singer of Creed. Stapp will be replacing the late Scott Weiland (of Stone Temple Pilots) as AOA’s lead singer. AOA evolved organically out of an 18-year friendship between Bumblefoot and the Votta brothers. Jon Votta came to Bumblefoot with the idea of putting together a new band with a diverse group of talent and a uniquely melodic and aggressive sound. The group released their self-titled debut album, ART OF ANARCHY in June 2015, featuring Scott Weiland on vocals. The band’s next chapter begins now: The addition of Stapp and the electrifying new musical direction he brings ushers in a new era for the group. “I’m excited to be a part of ART OF ANARCHY,” said Stapp. “I appreciate collaborating with other talented artists and I can’t wait to share our new music with the fans very soon.” “The Madness” offers powerful, catchy and rousing modern hard rock that documents a strong evolution from its predecessor and is highly recommended to fans of Stone Sour, Bullet For My Valentine, Alter Bridge.

Recorded by producer Pieter Kloos (The Devil's Blood, Motorpsycho), “Here Now, There Then” is an album of supreme songwriting and remarkable musical diversity, blending classic hard rock, gothic pop and psychedelic metal in an ever-surprising manner. Carried by infinite, hypnotic guitar lines, DOOL takes the listener from dark caves, inhabited by ancient ghosts on its debut single “Oweynagat”, to the deep abysses of a broken heart on cuts like “Death of Love”. From the sensual and teasing (“Words on Paper”), to the imposing and ominous (the 10 minute epic “Vantablack”), DOOL hits every pressure point, striking with the deadly precision of a venomous asp.
The Second Album from Irkallian Oracle, “Apollyon” provides the same percussion-driven meditations as the first album, “Grave Ekstasis”, while also demonstrating a greater musical maturity characterized by more focused compositions and technical enhancement
With their mind-melting eighth epos, Cult Of Luna & Julie Christmas bring you to the outer rim of the ever expanding boundaries of the cosmos, where the rules of man are not applicable and the cold, dark nothing envelops the harsh realities of the universe.
Since their beginnings in 1998, Cult Of Luna has released seven albums, been awarded the top rock/metal award at the Swedish National Radio Awards and cemented their status as one of the true progressors of the metal genre, known to most metal aficionados. In 2013, the Swedes teamed up with Indie Recordings for the release of perhaps their most successful work to date in the shape of “Vertikal I” and “Vertikal II”.
These cohesive pieces of work received worldwide appraisal and only pillared Cult Of Luna to even greater heights.
For their eight effort, the post-metal pioneers join forces with the talented Julie Christmas from Brooklyn, bringing an even larger depth to Cult Of Lunas sound. Her haunting voice has fronted vital bands such as Made Out of Babies and Battle of Mice, and is one of significance in the underground sludge and post-metal scene. Furthermore, she has released two solo albums and features on tracks by bands like Mouth of the Architect and String of Consciousness. Her prowess as a vocalist is powerfully on display on “Mariner”.
At the end of Vertikal, we stood in the cold harshness of the mechanical city and looked up onto the stars. We lost ourselves in the awe of their grace and thought that “maybe the answer is to be found above”. The ship was leaking and by to look of it, our home was dying. No room for fear when a greater call demands your full attention. So, we left… Onward, forward. Like the old seafarers, we explored the vastness of space. Not bound by physical laws we pass the speed of light and chase the expansion of space until we reach its limit.
And then, we continued on and disappeared. This is our story. – Cult Of Luna
Remember the time when Conan strapped your head to the Anvil of Crom, and then three bearded, burley bastards bludgeoned it to a bloody pulp using a giant hammer forged of Wrought-Iommi? Well, it’s that time again as bruising Indianapolis bashers THE GATES OF SLUMBER deftly defy death on their latest volcanic eruption, Hymns of Blood & Thunder.
THE GATES OF SLUMBER encapsulate the metal experience for true believers. The Indianapolis doom metal trio formed in the late 1990’s with the goal of creating a band whose sound delivered an updated take on the member’s long list of favourite Heavy Metal greats. Weaned on Black Sabbath, St. Vitus, the melodic might of Iron Maiden and a host of classic bands from Thin Lizzy and Rainbow to Mercyful Fate, THE GATES OF SLUMBER draw deep from Heavy Metal’s most powerful blood and deliver Doom in its purest form.
The band’s hotly anticipated new album, Hymns of Blood & Thunder drops on the heels of the brightest and busiest year in the respected power-trio’s history; one that saw THE GATES OF SLUMBER pack clubs during its first U.S. headlining tour and land atop many year-end media polls with Conqueror, an album that was hailed as “a breath of fresh air within the Doom / True metal underground.” The record placed at the #5 position in Decibel’s “Top 40 Albums of 2008” and made Village Voice Media’s “Top 10 Metal Albums of 2008”, joining an impressive list of some of the genre’s finest including AC/DC, Judas Priest and Metallica.
Now signed to the highly respected Rise Above Records, THE GATES OF SLUMBER unleashes its holy grail; the formidable Hymns of Blood & Thunder. A mighty document of both powerful song-writing and instrumental skull-crushing, the album is heavy and chillingly bleak in an almost unrelenting way that hadn’t been heard since Judas Priest’s heyday (Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin, etc.). Displaying a newfound focus and direction and demonstrating a very compelling emotional range, THE GATES OF SLUMBER have upped its levels of both technique and melody, resulting in an album that is at once frighteningly dark in its effect, tight in its grooves and unrivalled in the sheer power of its jackhammer guitar riffs, all of which stamp the record an instant classic!
ARDUINI/BALICH is the result of two very powerful figures in their own right of the metal scene. VICTOR ARDUINI needs no introduction being one of the founding members of FATES WARNING, same can be said for BRIAN “BUTCH” BALICH, the mighty voice of ARGUS.
“Dawn Of Ages” is one of the most ambitious records ever released on Cruz Del Sur Music. A monumental piece of music, a rollercoaster of emotions, an album that captures the collisions of two worlds, progressive and doom.
The final result is a really amazing journey inside human soul. Through six original compositions that last for more than an hour, the audience will be captured and hypnotized by the eclectically familiar Victor’s guitar melodies empowered by Butch’s passionate interpretation.
Indeed “Dawn of Ages” is an album that could have been easily recorded in the mid/late 70s for the total dedication that transpires through each and every note of it. It is not an album that wants to please any old or new trend in metal, rather an intimate expression of two musicians who have always put their passion for heavy music before anything else.

“Black Metal” is the second album by English heavy metal pioneers Venom. Released hot upon the heels of their first assault came Venom’s nearly as crucial second album, 1982’s Black Metal, whose title alone still lends itself to the most uncompromising strain of heavy metal in existence today. The band wasn’t popular or successful at the time the album was released, but they showed a legion of metal heads they could gather some friends, get wasted, and crank out an album’s worth of extreme darkness.

“At War with Satan” is the third album by extreme metal pioneers Venom, released in April 1984. Though neither of their first two albums had sold in very large quantities (even by heavy metal standards), by 1983 Venom had become simply impossible to ignore. To be sure, their exceedingly Satanic posturing wasn’t nearly as shocking as it was cartoonish, and their impenetrable dirge of embryonic black metal only helped fuel the metal community’s interest in the band.
