Dissonance Productions re-issue the classic albums of Austrian death metal band Pungent Stench.
“Been Caught Buttering” is Pungent Stench's second album, originally released in 1991 on Nuclear Blast. The album art, which depicted two severed, partially decomposed heads kissing (in fact, it is one head which had been sawed in half by photographer Joel-Peter Witkin), had to be changed for the Australian release. The controversy alone caused global interest in the band. “Been Caught Buttering”, garnered the group considerable attention in the morbid death metal/grindcore underground, because of their perversities as well as their style of music.
THE WAKEDEAD GATHERING's third full-length album, “Fuscus: Strings of The Black Lyre” presents the story of a witch hunt that turns hunter into prey and the children of those so-called “righteous” perpetrators into something… not entirely human! Hailing from Italy, TALV started in early 2012 under the name of Trees In The Fog. Their purpose has always been to merge dissonant and melancholic black metal with a touch of ambient music.

THE LURKING FEAR is no longer just the title of a classic H.P. Lovecraft horror story. It now represents a new five-piece death metal band featuring some of the finest musicians to come out of Sweden. Consisting of Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates/Disfear) on vocals, guitarists Jonas Stålhammar (God Macabre/Bombs Of Hades) and Fredrik Wallenberg (Skitsystem), bassist Andreas Axelson (Tormented/Disfear)and Adrian Erlandsson (At The Gates/The Haunted) on drums, the “supergroup” tag might come to mind, but as Tompa explains that is far from reality: “We want to steer away from the project / supergroup label. THE LURKING FEAR just happens to be five guys that are in or have been in other bands for a long period of time. We've all known each other since 1989 – me and Jonas were writing letters back and forth and tape trading – so I have no idea why it took so long for us to get together and do this.” And everyone who appreciates pure, timeless death metal inspired by Autopsy, (early) Death, Morbid Angel, Possessed or Repulsion will be beyond happy that they finally did as “Out Of The Voiceless Grave” is one hell of an album. Written within a mere two months, it strikes with an authentic, furious intensity and successfully avoids a retrospective, ancient sound by purpose: “We don't want to try and recreate something that we've done in our other bands,” says Lindberg. “And we know what we don't want. There are bands that try too hard to recreate that old school sound, and they make it too dirty and too raw just for the sake of it. We want to make good recordings that sound heavy as fuck and are well produced, but at the same time we want to expose that raw nerve that is missing in some of the more modern stuff.” Songs like “Vortex Spawn”, “The Infernal Dread”, “Upon Black Winds”, “Winged Death” or “The Starving Gods Of Old” are best proof that THE LURKING FEAR accomplished this goal. A must-have for any death metal maniac out there!
THE HAUNTED are back with their 9th studio album “Strength In Numbers” and it turns out to be an aggressive, versatile and uncompromising sonic assault that is even more intense as its 2014 predecessor “Exit Wounds”, which marked the first album with Marco Aro on vocals since 2003. Next to Aro, THE HAUNTED consist of Jensen (Guitars), Ola Englund (Lead Guitars), Jonas Björler (Bass) and Adrian Erlandsson (Drums) and by tapping Russ Russell (Napalm Death, The Exploited, etc.) for production duties, “Strength In Numbers” sports a rawer, darker vibe resulting in an authentic, unrelenting monster of an album. A song like the merciless thrasher “Brute Force” lives totally up to its title, “Tighten The Noose” is another no-holds-barred attack, whereas “Preachers Of Death” offers a Pantera-like mid paced fury and “Spark” or “Means To An End” successfully unite thrash riffs with a gloomy atmosphere. To sum it up: A damn strong, f**king pissed off opus!
